The Odisha government launched Subhadra Yojana on 17 September 2024 as its biggest-ever women empowerment scheme. On the very first day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹5,000 each to more than 1 crore women directly into their bank accounts.
Under this scheme, every eligible woman will receive ₹50,000 over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29) at the rate of ₹10,000 per year. The money comes straight to the Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
This is not just another small cash transfer scheme. Subhadra Yojana is designed to give women financial independence, help them start small businesses, educate their children, and take care of family health needs. Till date, more than 70 lakh women have already received the first instalment, and the registration process is still going on in full swing.
What is Subhadra Yojana?
